Russian Black Sea Fleet Commander killed after attack on headquarters in temporarily occupied Sevastopol
Ukraine's special operations forces confirmed that the commander of the Russian Black Sea Fleet Admiral Viktor Sokolov was killed in an attack on the headquarters in occupied Sevastopol. Moreover, 34 Russian officers were eliminated. Another 105 Russians were wounded.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirms the transfer of the first Abrams tanks to Ukraine
The President of Ukraine announced the transfer of American Abrams tanks to Ukraine. In total, the United States promised to provide Ukraine with 31 tanks. The transfer of the first batch of Abrams was approved in August 2023.
Odesa marine terminal and hotel almost destroyed in night attack
Russian forces have attacked the port infrastructure in Odesa overnight, significantly damaging the Odesa marine terminal building and a hotel, destroying grain storage facilities and damaging warehouse buildings. The Defence Forces of Ukraine’s south also reported that the Russians destroyed grain storage facilities using Oniks missiles. Two people have been killed.
The independent commission of the UN believes that Russia is committing the crime of inciting the genocide of the Ukrainian people
In its latest report, the Commission stated that the Russians continue to harm civilians (torture, sexual and gender-based violence) and energy infrastructure. The commission is also investigating the causes of the Nova Kakhovka dam breach and its impact on the civilian population. The commission is also concerned about allegations of genocide in Ukraine. For example, some statements made in the Russian state and other mass media may constitute the crime of incitement to genocide.
400 settlements remain without electricity due to hostilities
Ukrainian energy operator Ukrenergo says 400 settlements in the country remain without electricity “due to hostilities and other reasons”. Particularly there is damage to the networks of the Donetsk region, Dnipropetrovsk region, Odesa region, Sumy region, Kharkiv region, Kherson region.
