"We have never seen so many targets at the same time": Russia launches massive missile strikes in Ukraine, dozens killed
Russia unleashed a barrage of 158 attack drones and missiles overnight, targeting regions across Ukraine on December 29. "We have never seen so many targets on our monitor at the same time," said Yurii Ihnat, spokesman for the Ukrainian Air Force. Particularly, Russian missiles hit residential buildings in Kyiv, Dnipro, Odesa, Lviv and Zaporizhzhia. In Dnipro, Russians also damaged the maternity hospital and shopping mall, in Kyiv missiles struck a civilian warehouse. Ukrainian air defense managed to destroy 27 Shahed drones and 87 cruise missiles. As of 19:30, it was reported by the Minister of Internal Affairs that the Russian massive strike resulted in approximately 30 deaths and over 160 injured.
Russian missile entered Polish airspace — General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces
Polish President Andrzej Duda convened an emergency meeting of the National Security Bureau after an "unknown object" flew into Poland. The "unknown object" that flew into the country's airspace from Ukraine was a Russian missile, the Chief of the General Staff of the Polish Armed Forces, General Wiesław Kukuła, said. The Russian missile crossed the Polish border and flew 40 kilometers into Polish territory. Three minutes later, the missile returned to Ukraine.
Zelenskyy visits Avdiivka, recording videos just 2 km from Russian positions
On 29 December, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy published a video from Avdiivka, where he brought up the situation with defense lines and needs of the military units, and awarded the soldiers. The photo and the video itself show that Zelensky was near the stele of the town of Avdiivka. According to the maps, it is located 2 km from the front line.
Due to the destruction of the Novocherkassk ship in the temporarily occupied Feodosia, 74 Russian sailors were killed
Russian Black Sea Fleet press service is quoted as saying that 74 Russian sailors were killed and 27 were injured in Ukraine's missile attack on Russia's Novocherkassk landing ship near the Crimean port city of Feodosia. The figure appeared on the Novosti Sevastopolya Russia’s news website. Ukrainian authorities said earlier that the December 26 air strikes caused an explosion that indicated that ammunition on the large landing ship had detonated. Russia's training ship UTS-150 was also damaged in the attack.
UK announces supply of hundreds of anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine after massive Russian attack
After a massive Russian attack on Ukraine on the night of Friday 28-29 December, Grant Shapps, Secretary of State for Defense of the United Kingdom, announced the sending of "hundreds of British made air defense missiles" to Kyiv.
